Military Career

Records show that Francis Barfield served in the armed forces. Francis was in WW1. The Royal Regiment of Artillery. He was living at Fir House when he enlisted at the age of 38 (20th September, 1916). He was wounded in April 1917 in France, but appears to be back in the front line in May of the same year. The record shows he had a gun shot would to the foot (trivial), and that THE SOLDIER WAS NOT TO BLAME.

He returned to England on furlough in July 1918, and returned to France the next Day? He was back in england by March 1919.4
