Research Notes

  • Research note 01: John and Jane had a son William (Chr 27th Feb in St Matthew, Bethnal Green Original PR on Ancestry shows father a weaver). I only have his birth/christening, then an appearance in 1871 as the brother-in-law with Edward Tappin and Matilda nee BOYD. No death that I can isolate, and no further appearances in census in UK. I habe not found him in census before 1871 either.

Is it possible William used the name John, was tried and sent to AU for 7 years, then returned in time for the 1871 census, when he used his correct name? He was said to be unmarried in 1871. Of cource this does NOT address the point of Edgeware Road not being local for him..
