An inquest was held by tho coroner (Mr. T. Hall, J.P.) at tho Courthouse Ïosterday afternoon into the death of Henry Lord Blake, who cut his throat on June 6 and died in the Hospital yesterday morning.

Dr. Seabrook, resident surgeon at tho Broken Hill .and District Hospital, said deceased was admitted to the Hospital at about 9 o'clock on the morning of June 6 suffering from n incised wound on the throat about 6 in. long; he progressed favorably for the first two days, when symptoms of alcoholism appeared, and he became very rest- less; on thc morning of June 10 deceased had an apoplectic fit, and later, owing to his restlessness, the wound was torn open again ; he afterwards died suddenly of heart failure ; the primary causo of death was the wound on the throat.

Mary Blake, wife of deceased, said her maiden nomo was Cashman; on Wednesday night. June 5, she went to bod about 11 o clock ; deceased was sober, and had been in bed all of the previous day ; he had been drinking for about a fortnight; he did not complain that night, and at no time did he threaten to take his life ; he was a very quiet man; they had no quarrel; the next morning a Mrs. Plunkett called out to witness', and when she woke she found deceased beside her with the blood spurting out of his-throat; deceased had cut his thront with a table knife; witness was married to deceased at Broken Hill 11 years ago by tho Rev. E. J. Tuck.'

Tho coroner returned a verdict to the effect that deceased died from a wound on the throat, self inflicted.
