His death was commemorated by an obituary in the Hobart newspapers on 17 January 1917 in The Mercury, Tasmania, Australia, possibly in the army.3

Military Career

Records show that Vivian Youl served in the armed forces. Attested in NSW march 1916, #6339. He was en route to England by September, on the Euripides. He did not go over to france, and was admitted to Salisbury Plains 'Fargo' Military Hospital suffering from Pleurisy on 3rd January 1917. He died of pneumonia the 8th and is buried 'right side of the cemetery path, Durrington, Wiltshire. Grave 150.
