Census details

  • William was named first in the census taken on the night of 6th June 1841. Others in the house included Mary (?), but no relationships were recorded in this census. The address was London Road, Beccles, Suffolk, England. He was aged 86 years.. There was also a Mary George aged 50 in the same house.
Brushes with the LAW

William had some property 'peremptorily sold' by Samuel CROWE. It appears he was a bankrupt around 1815. (Lot 1) was sash fronted dwelling house in Hungate Street, Beccles. Said dwelling, which was newly built, could be used as a shop and dwelling. (Lot 2) A double cottage in Hungate Lane. (Lot 3) was a 2.5 acre plot of arable land near Ingate Church. Farr and Fiske, Solicitors of Beccles, handled the case.9
