Some aspects of Alexander Elrick's life. Winifred ELRICK who married BROWN.
I checked by on line stuff, and there certainly is an Isabella Gray EDGAR who looks to have married Alexander ELRICK.
This couple came to AU (as you said) on the Strathaird in 1953, but I have not so far looked into their children.

Alexander came to AU when he was 25. This was on the Bendigo in 1922. His home address in Scotland at the time was 21 Bank Street Grennock. He was NOT with any other ELRICK.

The first time I see Isabella Grey in the records is in 1953, when she travelled from Scotland to Melbourne. She was 56 and she was with John Alexander aged 22. Their address in Scotland was 89 Magdalen Road, Dundee. He was an electrician.

Her country of last permanent residence was 'British Possessions' [most likely AU] and his was England, so they are not necessarily mother and son.

Isabella travelled from Scotland again in 1958. This time she is with husband Alexander. The address in Scotland was 11 Finley Medway, Edinburgh. Their previous permanent country was Australia.

Isabella died in 1972. Her parents are named as Edgar Alexande [sic] and Mary MILNE

In 1939 and in 1946 she was on the electoral roll with Alexander in 2 Bournian Ave Essendon.

NOW - to get down to nitty gritty.....

Winifred's family's home address when they travelled to AU in 1924 was 21 Bank Street, Greenock, which was the same as Alexander when he came here in 1922. Alexander WAS TOO young to have been the father of the children.

My scenario is this.

Isabella Grey EDGAR b 1897 married Alexander ELRICK b 1897 [PLACE AND DATE NOT KNOWN BY ME]. He was 25 in 1922 when he came here unaccompanied.

ELRICK married Janet who was born in 1875, and had children Winifred 15, Janet 24, Elizabeth 22, Rachael 18, Nancy 11 and John 17. Janet and the children came to AU in 1924.

from previous research I know this couple to be John ELRICK b 1873 and Janet CHAMBERS b 1873. John died in Bank Street in 1923.

Janet died in Elwood in 1953. Her parents were John CHAMBERS and Janet nee McFARLANE.

I believe the Alexander aged 25 who travelled in 1922 was Janet's eldest son. Janet must have decided to bring the rest of the family to AU after her husband died in 1923.

Therefore in summary Winifred is Alexander's younger sister.
