Military Career

Records show that John James Annis served in the armed forces. John was in the Royal Navy Reserve, and was a trimmer on the Navy Drifter Michaelmas Daisy. This ship was sunk by the UC38, Commander Alfred KLATT. She struck a mine off Cap St. Maria di Leuca. The National Archives has a detailed report of the sinking - Reference:ADM 1/8474/281
