Some aspects of William Alexander's life. Sad news for more POSTEL marriages

1907 12 Nursery Terrace, Yarmouth. William was summoned for assaulting his wife (unnamed, but her mother was Mrs POSTEL), with a horse whip. Mrs ALEXANDER was claiming separation and support. Eliza had moved in with her mother. William denied the accusations, but refused the offer of making a statement to that effect under oath.

The magistrates found for Eliza, and granted her 10 a week. 10 shillings that William said he could not afford. The story ends with only the 1 shoe dropped. We know the magistrate's asked William how he expected his wife and child to survive on less than 10s per week, but we don't know the answer.

On the other hand they were living together as a family in 1911, and in 1939.3
