  • Married Name: Her married name was Culling.
Some aspects of Elizabeth Carleton's life. Elizabeth is somehow connected to Lord Dorchester who was the 21 st Govenor of Quebec. He was Chr Guy CARLETON 1724.

He commanded all the British troops during part of the American War of Independence. His younger brother Thomas serv ed under him.

They were notable for carrying out the Crown's promise of freedom to slaves who joined the British, and he oversaw the evacuation of British forces, Loyalists and more than 3,000 freedmen from New York in 1783 to transport them to a British colony.

Our Eluizabeth CARELTON was having children in 1741, so cannot be one of Guy's children. She is NOT his sister, as there was only 1 sister and she was named Connolly CARLETON.

The CARLETON connection to the DORCHESTER titles go back as far as Elizabeth 1st, so there is plenty of scope for Elizabeth to be a cousin og GUY's.

She is be the widow who died in the Strand in 1790, leaving a Will (in the Archives).1
