Estates Planned & Unplanned

The will left by Jonathon reads as follows: Executors were Robert BRAME and William FERRITT, both of Lowestoft. He listed property in High Street Lowestoft in the occupation of James HUGHES (his son-in-law)

He left one-fifth to son William, one-fifth to son James, one-fifth to daughter Ann, wife of William DANN (all of Lowestoft), one-fifth to daughter Alice, the wife of David PARR, residing in Bury St Edmunds, the last fifth to his grandchildren, the children of Elizabeth HUGHES, the wife of James HUGHES of Lowestoft. These grandchildren were fathered by her fist husband George BURWOOD. Names of these grandchildren are noted as William, Ann and George BURWOOD.

He then goes on to say that, should his 2 daughters (DANN and PARR) have remarried, then their share should go to their respective children by their first husbands.

There was a Codicil where he notes that Ann BURWOOD had since been married to and widowed by George NICHOLLS, and that a grandson George BURWOOD had died, leaving 3 children. He divided up the one-fifth share equally between the living, allowing for various loans he had made to these said people.
