Census details

Research Notes

  • Research note 01: Not found in later census. There were a number of James BEVERIDGE boys christened in Dunfermline around this time. Some trees on ancestry have this James as a coal miner 1861 and later, but I disagree. There are other more likely candidates who were already coal miners in 1851, when our James was a weaver.
    * It is possible he is the man described (in the 1881 census) as a lunatic in an institution in Cupar (born in Dunfermline 1835). A James BEVERIDGE died in Cupar in 1884.
