Primary events

Secondary circumstances

  • Occupation: Seymour was Carpenter.1
  • Note - Concl: In 1841 a Rose PETTETT was with the family. 4 years later Seymour married Mary MOWLE whose mother was PETTETT before she married. Therrefore I believe we have the correct Seymour HUNT, son of James., who was living in Oakley in 1841.
  • Directory: He was listed in a directory issued in 1874 as a carpenter. his address was Oakley, Suffolk, England. Samuel PETIT, basket maker, and William WHATLING, thatcher, were linsted as living in the same place.

  • In the census taken on the night of 30th March 1851, Seymour was the head of the household and Mary was his wife. The address was Oakley, Suffolk, England. Next door to James MOWLE a widower aged 63 who is also a carpenter. James MOWLE's daughter and son-in-law Harriett and James BARTAM are in the same house.. Their children James and Pheobe were living with them.
  • In the census taken on the night of 7th April 1861, Seymour was the head of the household and Mary was his wife. The address was Oakley, England. Their children James, Frederica, Levi, Elizabeth and Mariah were living with them, along with James Mowle who is listed as a visitor.

Research Notes

  • Research note 01: May have had a brother who married an Elizabeth (?) who was born in Wortham, Suffolk. This brother would have died before 1881 as Elizabeth is a widow in 1881. This couple must have had at least one daughter (born before 1841), as they have a grandson named Ernest MILLICAN aged 19 born in Pakenham.

Children of Seymour Hunt and Mary Mowle
