Research Notes

  • Research note 01: not found in 1861 and 1871 census.
  • Research note 01: In 1881 there is a John Baxfield living with a Mary Simons (80 year old widowed housekeeper) and her daughter Grace (36 year old single lady with no occupation) as a cousin to Mary. In the same house is Mary's grandson William Simons (17 years old 'in a shop') and her sister Susannah Jones (76 year old widowed 'assistant in the house'). The name is clearly written as Baxfield, but I am fairly sure this is John BAYFIELD. He married Grace Simons 3 months after the census, and they had a son sometime between 5 and 8 months later..
