  • Research note 03: May be the woman who had banns read for a marriage between her and James PHILPOTTS in May 1834. The form is incomplete, so the parriage may not have taken place. They were both from Ilfracombe.
  • Research note 01: May have had an illegitimate son James chr in Ilfracombe 17th June 1835. He was found in Heanton Punchardon, working as a farm servant to Richard HANDING, a farmer of 34 acres in 1851..3
  • Research note 02: May be the Ann CHUGG aged 35 who was imprisoned for 6 months for stealing clothes from her employer's wife. Trial was 1st Jan, 1839, Devon Couty Sessions. Newspaper report was North Devon Journal 10th Jan.4
