Census details

  • Mary Ann Alexander appeared on the census taken on the night of 2nd April 1871, at 9 row 119, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, in the household of William Alexander.
  • In 1881 Mary Ann Alexander may have been found in Burgh St Margaret's when the census was taken. May have found Mary Ann living as a boarder with Joseph and Hannah ALEXANDER. Joseph was born in 1823 in Upton.
  • In the census taken on the night of 5th April 1891, Mary Ann was the wife of the head of the household, Albert Larn. The address was 11 Camden Place, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Transcribed as LAM. Their children Albert and John were living with them.
  • In the census taken on the night of 31st March 1901, Mary Ann was the head of the household. The address was 6 Camden Place, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. This time transcribed as LAIN. Albert is not at home, but Mary Ann is 'married' so we can assume he is not dead. Also there is no death for an Albert LARN between 1891 and 1901 in free bmd. Her children John, Albert, Florence, William, Arthur and Maud were living with her.
  • In the census taken on the night of 2nd April 1911, Mary Ann was the wife of the head of the household, Albert Larn. The address was 19 Friars Lane, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. in an 8 roomed house (maybe the pub he was the publican of, but no name mentioned on the census record). This marriage had produced 8 children, 4 of which were already dead. We know Florrie, Maud and William were still alive as they were living with their parents, and there are 3 children whose births I have not recorded. An Albert LARN died in grimsby in 1910, so it is most likely that Arthur is the one who is alive and not at home on census night. John Henry ALEXANDER was illigitimate, so should not have been shown in the census particulars of marriage data.. Their children Florence, Maud and William were living with them.
