Research Notes

  • Research note 03: A Thomas HUBBARD, son of George and Mary HUBBARD was Chr in West Dereham 5th April 1744. This couple is George and Mary nee WIGNAL who married in 1741 in Crimplesham. His parish was West Dereham, hers was Stradsett. Other children were Thomas 1742 Crimplesham ; Thomas 1743 Crimplesham (died 1743) ; - see separate unrelated people.5
  • Research note 01: This couple are the best guess for parents of James. Others tree on ancestry do not have Moses, but I found his burial in Norwich. I am guessing either Ann died, or the couple moved, possibly to Walcot, but so far we have not found any links in other branches of the HUBBARD family who turn up in our tree back to Walcot. I have not found Ann's burial either, but there are many many untranscribed Norfolk records. Thomas is buried in the same churchyard as his son and daughter-in-law and their family.
  • Research note 02: In 1768 a Sarah HUBBARD was buried in St Martin at Oak. She was a 'minor'. Note that there were only 2 descriptions in the register 'minor' and nothing. The parson must mean a child, but I have no idea what his ceiling was..
Background information on St Gregory's, Norwich, Norfolk, England, - This church is now used as an art's centre. It has a famous mural of St George that is in fair condition and the other exhibits are the font that Thomas and Ann's first child was baptised in and a modern adaptation, which of course was not there way back when, of a staind glass window. Simply stunning. The pictures are from www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/norwichgregory/norwichgregory.htm.
