The will left by William in December 1846 reads as follows: Will transcription for William BESSEY
This is the last will and testament of me William BESSEY of Repps with Bastwick in the county of Norfolk. In the first place I will that all such debts that I shall justly owe at the time of my decease and my funeral expenses ----. I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann BESSEY all and every of my freehold and copyhold land hereditament and premises situate lying and being in Repps with Bastwick foresaid or in any other parish or place thereby adjoining and now in my own occupation subject to any mortgage that I may hereafter charge upon the same. And also all and every my other land hereditament and premises which I now have or of which I may hereafter become possessed and if what nature or kind soever and wherever the same may be situated to and for her own absolute use benefit and disposal and free from the debts control or engagement of any future husband with whom she may intermarry. And I give and devise to my said wife all my goods household furniture chattels monies securities for monies debts books and all other my personal estate of what nature or kind soever----. And I give to my son John BESSEY a legacy of ten pounds. Dated 1845. Executrix was Ann and executor was William MANSHIP of Repps with Bastwick. The wiil was witnessed by William S CATCHPOLE solicitor of Yarmouth and W BOTWRIGHT Postmaster. The will was proved 27th Nov 1846. Effects under £200.

  • Research note 01: Possibly the son of John and Elizabeth BESSEY christened in Repps with Bastwick 10/6/1770. Other children of this couple are : Elizabeth 1772. William may have died Dec qtr 1846 in Flegg 13/93 or 96.
