Research Notes

  • Research note 01: May have been buried in Ealing Middlesex 27th June 1835. This Barnabas was living in Gunnersby Lodge when he died.4
  • Research note 03: A Barnabas and Sarah BLAKE had a son Barnabas christened in All Saints Springfield Essex 20th Dec 1812, but this was Barnabas and Sarah GIBSON who were married in 1809.
  • Research note 02: Possibly a Hotel Keeper in Jermyn Street in 1807. A Barnabas BLAKE appeared as a witness in the criminal trial of Charles O'Shaughnessy 113th May 1807. This Barnabas may have died Jun qtr 1844 in Kensington London - but note that he was not sighted in 1841 census.
    * He married Sarah MASON in Saint Anne Soho 1st May 1791 (IGI M06236-2) and had William christened 15th Dec 1791, Mary Ann christened 27th Jan 1793, Harriet christened 29th July 1794, Sarah christened 23rd October, 1796, George christened 2nd Feb 1800 - all St James Westminster. There were 5 other christenings to a couple with the same names in Hampshire 1809-1821, but this is most likely another family.
    * I found a Barnabas BLAKE, retired miller born in 1782 in the 1841 and 1851 census, living in Chelmsford. That Barnabas died Sept qtr 1858, still in Chelmsford..
  • Research note 04: In 1775 Barnabas Junior registered an apprentice miller, Isaac FROST.
