John Blake's headstone in the St Peter's Churchyard reads In memory of Captain John BLAKE formerly of H M 47th Regiment and late of H M 28th Regiment, eldest son of J J BLKAKE esq. of this parish, He served in the Crimea in 1855 and in Indoa during the mutiny of 1857. He died the 10th Nov 1865 aged 33 years. God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave for he shall receive me. Also Mary widow of the above named John BLAKE who died 14th March 1872 aged 35 and is interred in the same grave with him. This grave is within an enclosure with other graves. Stone posts and iron rails.
