Research Notes

  • Research note 01: May have married a James SLADE on 14th Feb 1832 in Hemel Hempstead. James and a lady named Ann were enumerated in 1851 and 1861 census, but Ann's age in 1861 was the same as Susans? However a James SLADE married an Ann BUCK in 17th July 1842 in the same church. This was registered in Sep qtr 1842. There was a son Joseph with james and Ann in 1851 aged 14 who is listed as a son. I believe this points to the fact we are looking at the same James SLADE who married Ann after Susan died.

The James SLADE who married Ann was from the parish of Buckham in Buckinghamshire, as was the james in the 1851 and the 1851 census. Is it possibly that Susan BRITTEN died and James married Ann BUCK?

Children born to James and Susan are

    Ann born 1834 died 1836
    Sarah born 1838 died 1839
    Joseph born 1836
    William born 1833

A Susan SLADE died in Hemel Hempstead in Sep qtr 1838..
