Military Career

Records show that Bruce Chugg served in the armed forces. Bruce attested in 4th June, 1940, and he was discharged in Spetember of the same year, as being mentally unfit for service. HOWEVER - in 1943 - 1954, he was listed in the electoral Roll as a Soldier.

Max, his son, says - Joined Australian Army on June 4, 1940 at Launceston - TX3043 to 7th Div Ammunition Co., 2nd AIF. He was discharged medically unfit on 3/9/1940. On September 10 1940 he enlisted in the Launceston Provost Company TX 15449 and served 571 days in Australia and 296 days in Port Moresby, New Guinea. He was discharged at Brighton on 28/8/1944.
