Military Career

Records show that John Alfred Andrews served in the armed forces. He was in the East Surrey Regiment, from 1894. He was in the Militia prior to this. He served until March 1899, when he was discharged at Aldershot as medically unfit. He had been in Malta and India. He had syphilis in Nov 1896, hospitalised for 180 days. Treated with Mercury. His medical records are very detailed, but have been written by medical people, so are indecipherable. His NOK's name and address confirms this is the correct person.3
